So this is more of an inquiry than anything...

Are the Aisin transmissions holding up on the 3500s to long towing? A sales guy at a local camper store is going around telling people that locals are swapping their Rams in for DMax or Furds.

I haven't heard of anything negative with regards to the Aisin.

Only issues I had were all with the emmissions system. The transmission has been great aside from it being an auto with a mind of it's own.... I drive down the same hill every day some days it'll stay locked in gear and the engine break will hold my speed down where I want it. Most other days it will unlock and I've got to ride the service breaks all the way down. If I manually down shiftit'll hold. If I use tow haul it will down shift to the point that the truck will almost stop. I'm a manual transmission guy so I find it's aloofness strange. All other driving it behaves well shifts smooth with No dead throttle issues.

They are fine till you add too much Power-this will hold true for any brand trans. As a matter of fact some dmax dragracers have been using the 48re

You say a "sales guy" is spouting ignorant information? Are you sure that is possible?
I just couldn't help myself.

If your sales guy told ya wolverines made great house pets....would you believe that, too ???? On a sidenote....my '14 RAM 3500 Crew Cab Tradesman DRW 4x4 w/AS69RC is at 221,925 miles as of tonight. I've followed the maintenance book religiously. My AS69RC hasn't skipped a beat......and I've grossed out near 29k lbs more than once.

My Aisin has been awesome in my 15. The 68rfe in my 14 not so much. Maybe the third trans going in will hold for the new owner.
Greg, when can i pick up a baby wolverine from ya? Hear they make great pets! If you have some little ones ready to go maybe you could do a run out my way with one?LOL

Edit: upon doing more research i will pass on the wolverine as a pet. It looks like for 2017 a hybrid of a skunk and a wolverine is going to be all the rage. They are called skunkerines. Wow!

I remember when I was in Lafayette the local Ford shop I visited told me that the "new Allison" that Dodge was putting in the trucks wasn't holding up......I told him it was an Aisin and he said "Dat's right, Allison!". That's the point in which you know he's just an oxygen thief. :-laf

Never said I believed him. Anything negative regarding these powertrains I hear are from Chevy and Furd people. BUT, I know next to nothing about the Aisin, hence my inquiry here.

Thanks for the responses and pics everyone. Impressive numbers as well.
