I not an expert to say the least on automatic Transmissions, but I need to leaned about the kick down settings. I done some readings on TDR about this topic only to confuse myself further. So here is what I am dealing with.
A rebuilt and beefed up RE48 with about 60k miles. Transmission heater removed, lots of 90 degree hoses removed gone, check valve remove from cooling line, BD double stack 5/8 trans cooler thermostatic w/fan, deep transmission pan, extra 4 quarts of fluid. unloaded truck internal trans temp at 85 degrees out side temp 154 degrees , pan temp 130.

Just replaced the the "throttle valve cable" aka kick down cable. I set it with the lever moving at 3/8 of an inch instead of 1 inch. Is this a good or bad setting, Too much? Truck shifts more even and down shifts better.
So am I doing any damage?
Thanks
Kyle

Not sure on the kick-down cable, but if the truck is daily driven I would reinstall the transmission heater. It’s important for the trans temp to warm up quick, and to stay warm.

Even something like the thermostat block off a 13+ Aisin would be better than nothing.

Actually the transmission heats up faster than the motor it's up to 90 degrees before I move the truck and 110 before I hit the end of the driveway. We live in north Western Florida so it doesn't drop below 150 degrees internal temp regardless of outside temp, so do I really need it? I don't like all the extra plumbing and the worry about cross contamination with coolant, those heats are known for failure.
Thanks
Kyle

Set the TV cable to where you think it shifts right for your needs. Unless you completely disconnect it you won't hurt anything.
