Isnt that what billet shafts are for? Dont slip the clutches and dont brake the shafts. Time for you guys to brake something new in those trannys. Clutches and shafts are old news. You guys need to figure out whats next to go.

Mopar-muscle, I hadn't either. The first I heard was when Don Ramer and the EarthRoamer guy, whose name I can't think of right now, posted about the TripleLok. It sounded interesting and so when I researched my trans. upgrades, I called them and after talking with them I got real interested.

Ditto on your druthers about not pulling the trans. That's why I keep my HP to a modest level. Even at about 250 h. p. , I can beat most of those big black Ferd Excretions, and all the Land Rovers (That's why they're called Rover, cause they're dawgs!)

True story about the Land Rovers: Their engine is basically a 1963 Buick V-8.

GM sold the rights to the '63 Buick engine to Rover, and they have improved it over the years, but it is basically a BUICK! So the next time you encounter that well-dressed yuppy, say, "Hey buddy... NICE BUICK!" They can't figure out what the heck you are talking about. :D :D

I worked for a few transmission in Las Vegas. At AAMCO we used ATS convertors for a long time. RPM, who sells transmission parts did sell ATS convertors at one time. We had good luck with them and had never had one come back with a faulty convertor.

When it is time for my transmission to go I most likely go with DTT. I am not sure yet I am still shopping.

just an FYI , i finally pulled out my transmission last night , 88k miles on the original dodge internals , nothing more than a DTT VB and TC . its been slipping for just over a year so i've been babying it , no racing , no boxes , no towing ( not that i do that alot) , and no lead footed joy riders . surprised at how well the front clutches looked and no real hint of the forward pack slipping , though maybe a little slipping of the ODs , increased line pressure does work :D .

billet shafts and 5 clutches going back in , comp drag version is in the mail , HX40 going north for some tweaking and i'm off for 500HP to the ground :D:D:Dv .

where is ATS ? maybe i'll swing thru in Demeber and see what the competition is up to , i'll be in vail for a week ...

They're in Wheat Ridge, which is a suburb of Denver.

They're right off the Interstate at 4295 Kipling St. .

Phone is 800-949-6002

Go by and ask for a ride in Don Ramer's truck! It WILL impress you.

Mopar-muscle:

Glad to hear you transmission looked good and that

you had no real internal damage.

I just installed the Stage IV ATS Transmission. Prior

to that, I had a "Pro-Torque" Converter, BD Valve

Body, BD Pressure Loc and the "better" Raybestos

Clutch packs which Scheid Diesel installed for me

3 years and almost 75,000 miles ago. Like you,

my transmission was not "slipping" but felt like it had

lost some of it's "efficiency" especially when towing

my trailers. The inside of mine looked very good

for the amount of miles it had, the amount of H. P.

I am at and the number of dynos and quarter

mile runs I have made! The most wear in mine

was on the "star gear" in the OD unit!! It was

worn pretty good with the "teeth" looking like

they might have broken soon. But with 175,000

miles, that is pretty good. Like you, my front

clutches looked good with pretty "normal" wear.

I never had ONE problem with that transmission!

I write all this to say that three years ago I was

told by one of the transmission "experts" that my "milled

stator" converter would not last 30,000 miles!

And for the members who can't afford say an

ATS, DTT, BD, PRO-LOC or some of the others

there are "reliable" less expensive alternatives.

Mopar Muscle,

Definately let me know if you happen to stop in the Denver area. Maybe we could get together and stop or a couple of beers. .

thanks rr , i'll check it out .

john p , mine definitely was slipping , i was chasing a 2-3 shift problem , WOT everything on and the trans shifted into third ,held for about 2 secs ,then i thought it was going back to second and i lifted , after really thinking about it and staying in it longer the tac was going right to 3500 plus , the trans was in third , but no bite of the clutches . i pulled the ez , pulled the hx40 , only used my PE for a boost module with the dd3's and no one else drove the truck but me , the couple times i did tow , even an empty car trailer i have to drive it like there was an egg under the throttle . you could see the telltale signs of glazing on the steels from slipping and the clutches were very dark but still had clutch material . my tc paint looked as good as the day i installed it so no overheating there , going to miss the 93 as i go back to a 91R

kevin will do , not sure where exactly we are staying but i'm thinking it will be close to denver .

stake sorry for hijacking your post .
