transmission limp mode?

Has anyone ever had their transmission go into limp mode? If so how did it act? Wondering if my problem is transmission releated? But never been around a truck in limp mode.

My wife's maxima was hit by lightning and blew up all of the computers.



The transmission went into limp mode... would only go 10 miles per hour ,start out in 2nd gear and stay their.

When my Plymouth minivan's transmission went toes up it went into limp mode. 2nd gear only from start to finish. Could only get it to go about 45 mph. I don't know if our truck trannies are the same, but I suspect so.

Limp Mode

I had a new transmission installed in my 98 12 valve. When the engine was cold it would start out in third gear and after it warmed up it was fine. I was told by my shop that it goes into third gear during limp mode. The problem in mine was a diode that the new valve body had that the old transmission computer also had. The diode was removed from the transmission computer and all was fine. Jeff

When I put the Torque Loc in I overlooked hooking up the plug on top of the transmission and I think it was in limp mode,felt like it started out in 2nd or 3rd gear from a stop and no lock-up. Gave me a bit of a scare

Flat,gutless kinda thought it could be something else. The first time I had a 28. 5 5'ver,16. 5ft boat. It was real iffy going staight across 4 lanes of trans-can on long week-end. It stayed in limp-mode for 2 weeks before it reset. I did resitor thing and all is well. Hope this helps.
