I've noticed that my transmission is not kicking down into lower gear when it should and tends to lug the engine a lot... What things should I check?

How many miles on it. Have you tried servicing it. It sounds like the gonvenor could be sticking from something in the trans making some debri.

I'm not sure of the mileage. Anywhere between 230,000 and 30,000. The girl I bought it from thought it had had the transmission replaced once.

IS the service something I could do myself?

If the lugging is only in over drive I think it would be the TPS my truck used to do that at around 45 mph if it did not shift out of OD it would shake pretty good.

What MPH is this at? I can get the truck shaking real good (also make its own distinct noise) when I get on it good in OD.

25-35mph? RPMS stay real low like 14-1500. It's annnoying. I wonder if it is the TPS?

Sounds like you've got the OD locked out..... can't remember if it's supposed to downshift with OD locked out or not. Man, i've lugged mine down at ~1200 RPM.

I noticed that the threaded part of my throttle rod had loosened up. Is there an adjustment procedure for the entire linkage?
