5 Speed Transmission is starting to make a whinning sound. Push clutch in noise stops. Truck has 73,250 miles on it. Is this a early sign that some bearings are going south?. I changed the transmission oil about 14 months ago. Should I change oil again and see if noise goes away or let transmission shop look at it?? Thanks for the advice.

Does the noise go away in any gears like 4th? Does the clutch have to be fully pressed to have the noise go away? Does it follow engine RPM? :)

The noise is in all gears 1-5. The noise stops when the clutch is pushed in far enough to switch gears, about 3/4 of the way to the floor. It does follow the rpm's:(

Does it happen at a stop in neutral foot off the pedal? You’re sure it does not go away in 4th? The next step is to get a stethoscope and try to pin point it in the trans but it doesn’t mean it still couldn’t be the throw out bearing, because it is still touching the pressure plate and it may go away under full apply. I would have to say not but when you do say that it bites you in the but. I think you’re down to input bearing to main shaft bearings or the gear from input to main shaft.
