Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) transmission Noises (I think)

Problem:

A couple of days ago I started noticing some noise from the truck. When I first step on the gas or let off I hear this clunk noise once. I can also feel it in the pedal as well. I have also noticed that putting the truck in reverse seems to generate a louder noise than normal.



Just wondering if this is the start of a transmission problem, or maybe something simpler.

Get it on a level surface put everything in nuetral (transmission and transfer case) crawl under it and start checking U-Joints. My old truck did that and it was a u joint. Cheap to check before you call the transmission dead.
