What kind of transmission?

It would help if you could enter your truck info into your signature so that we know more about you. Welcome to the TDR.

I'm a fan of Amsoil no matter witch trans. just remember that auto to auto , man. gearlube.

It's not that simple anymore. The NV4500 uses gear lube, the NV5600 uses 30W oil, and the G56 uses ATF+4.

Please explain

When I read the above regarding the "NV5600 uses 30W oil" I think Oh like 30wt Engine oil shouldn't I be using something like

Pennzoil which makes a compatible gear oil that should satisfy my warranty, part# is 3501

Please explain as I do want to R&R my transmission oil

Thanks

What has been used by TDR members, to briefly summarize (speaking of NV5600)

Amsoil 5w30 diesel engine oil (OK results but drawback is it's- engine oil not gear/transmission oil)

Redline MTL (most pretty happy, best viscosity match, meant for trannys)

Royal Purple Syncromax (good results for most, 1 guy killed transmission, thin lube closer to 20wt oil)

Amsoil MTF (30w lube designed for transmission, haven't read much feedback yet)

The Amsoil MTF is a differance in night and day over factory fill. I think its like a 5w30. But states its ONLY for the nv5600 manual transmission as well as a few other manuals. It is NOT engine oil.

did the royal purple in my 01 Automatic rear end front end transfer a year or so ago. has worked great. The 03 6 shooter has 67000 on it and probably still has original factory lub (i just bought it. Not sure what i will put it it. do a lot of heavy towing

second the amsoil mtf, good stuff. The big 5600 shifts smooth as butter now. I changed it at 15k, but will probably wait until 45-50k with the amsoil.
