I am about to change my transmission fluid in my 48RE, just looking for any tips or advice and want to know if I have to replace the pan gasket or if it is reusable?
Cool, thanks for the reply, I guess I am just gonna change the gasket, it is only $10, do you need to put RTV sealant or anything or does it just go in dry?
i just changed my transmission oil... that is one heavy duty gasket... i wouldn't change it. while you're under there, if you've never adjusted the bands, it's worthwhile to do so, I was very pleased with the improvement in shifting after adjusting (i had never done so after 55,000 miles)
I would love to adjust the bands, if I knew how it was done, my truck has a overly firm 1-2 shift sometimes and it goes into OD kinda wierd if under heavy throttle, like a wierd delay.
