Bear with me here, this is a strange one.

I've been having a problem with the accelerator pedal when shifting the truck into reverse. The pedal would get a hard spot in it and you'd have to push extra hard to overcome the hardspot. After I have shifted into reverse and experienced this hard spot, it would still be there in "Drive" and wouldn't go away until I pushed the pedal harder to overcome that same hard spot. If I didn't overcome it, the transmission wouldn't shift correctly. Once I overcame it, the transmission shifted normal and the hard spot was gone. But, because of that hard spot, the pedal felt like it was sticking. Not very safe.

Long story short, the dealer tried to buck my warranty claim. (little over a year, 22K miles) After they "fixed" the problem by relocating the kickdown cable, they said the truck was fixed. I picked the truck up today and drove it about 50 miles to find out the problem was still there. I took it back right away and the service manager claimed he couldn't feel the hard spot at all but I insisted they make note of the problem, before I drove the truck away again.

Bottom line is this. When I have someone put the truck in reverse, I get the hard spot. No other gear selection will duplicate this problem now. The dealer thought they fixed it thus far by relocating the kick down cable. But, my problem is still there. So while the truck is in reverse, I disco the kick down cable from the lever on the transmission and the gas pedal feels fine now. However the lever won't move (easily) by hand and all other gear positions feel fine. Reverse is like pushing on a rock. Basically speaking, the problem is within the throttle kick down lever on the transmission and the associated components within the transmission.

I'm no transmission expert but have a smart mind when it comes to mechanical stuff. I was hoping to hear a logical explanation as to why this is happening in hopes to convince the dealer that the problem lies within the transmission and not my aftermarket components that's been installed on the truck. Please, no "the transmission is junk" comments.

The truck does have some mods but not a lot. Gear Vendors OD, T-Rex suspension, 35" Procomp tires that used to be on aftermarket wheels but, the wheels have been changed to wheels with an aditional -. 625" back space over OEM wheels (5. 625" BS). That's it. No other mods affect the gas pedal, kick down cable, transmission or anything associated with this problem.

I'm looking for suggestions from the transmission guys on the list to see if there's something to be concerned about. Thanks!
