Need some advise on a recent trans problem. Truck is a 98 3500 4X4 automatic with 100K, in the mornings the truck feels like it is stuck to the ground (ambient air temp in the low 40s) and will not move under moderate throttle, and will sometimes stall. Under normal driving the trans does not slip, the fluid level is good and is not burnt. Any ideas.

Thanks,

Your trans has a check valve on one of the trans cooler lines. It's function is to prevent oil from draining out of the torque converter.

You can check this by warming up as you normally with the truck in neutral, not park. That allows the oil to circulate through the transmission. If the truck takes off like it should, you've found your problem.

Where is this check valve/ what does it look like? Mine does the same thing and shifting into neutral, then back into drive cures the problem temporarily.

Thanks for the help!
