I got my new DD clutch in and it went in easy and worked good for about the first 300 miles. The clutch still feels fine and works smooth but at about mile 300 of a 500 mile trip I cant hardly get it into 3rd and 4th, it feels like the synchros are going out. 6th is alos making a horrible slow knocking sound that got louder and I can feel it in the shifter now. I changed the fluid hoping that would help, and yes I overfilled it by 2qts like I always do but that didnt help at all. What could I have done to couse this? The transmission was shifting and felt fine before the clutch and for the first few hundred miles after it. Now it seems to just be getting worse. I dont think it could be the clutch because it feels fine and works smooth, I dont know if it is something I did during the install, its not my first install so I knew what I was doing, but I think it is wierd for these problems to come up so suddenly after the install. I was also running stock tuning and driving easy letting the clutch break in good, so I dont think I hurt the transmission by hammering on it.

Does it go into 1st and 2nd ok? Mine is coming out this coming Monday and going back to the biulder in OKC, stopped in there Monday and after a short drive they want to see it. Pops out of 1st, feels like 6th is getting that way, hard to get into 1st through 4th, etc. How did your fluid look that you drained out. IIRC, with the 3600 and higher, I thought you had to go with HD hydraulics?

yeah I put upgraded hydros in it. And it does go into 1st and 2nd just like normal. And the fluid looked and smelled fine.

I had a failure on the pressure plate with the 3600, but that will not allow you to shift into any gear. Hopefully that is not your problem.

no I dont think it is that, it shifts though all the other gears fine, just 3rd and 4th is hard. It shifts into 6th fine, it just makes a knocking noise in 6th when I am giving it any throttle.

Did the transmission slide in all the way and mate to the engine easily? My thought is that the dimensions of the flywheel may be off causing the input shaft to bottom out in the pilot hole, putting a thrust load on the input shaft.

I saw one instance where the tyranny went in fine but when it warmed up it grew in length enough to cause bearings to fail.

Just a thought!!
