I bought this truck new in ID and have over 93000 miles on it with no problems. I have done the mystery switch and have installed a Pac Brake as well as all the guages. The entire truck is Amsoil from front to back since about 30000 miles.

We live in Goose Creek, SC just outside of Charleston, SC.

The wife and I had just left Lowe's Home Center when we came to a lite just before entering the freeway(I-26). When the lite turned green, my truck did not want to go so I got deeper into the throttle and it slugglishly moved on. But when entering the freeway, the transmission would not shift into 3rd. As I had an immediate option to exit again onto Rivers Ave, I did so. When I got off the throttle(it was wrapped to about 2700), it shifted but when I hit the throttle lightly again, it immediatly downshifted again. I tried turning the OD off but nothing changed. After exiting and at the next lite, the same thing again(sluggish). Trans tem was 150 degrees. I have never seen the temp about 170 but I have the Mag-tec pan since I got the gauges. Anyway we came directly home. The fluid is OK but appears to have bubbles in it.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. We have dealers here but if need be I would rather go aftermarket. Thanks.

sounds like your transmission went into "limp mode" which will start out in 2nd or 3rd gear which is the sluggish response the bad news is that by flooring it in this situation you may have done some damage to the clutches only a transmission expert can tell you but your truck should be shifting normally after a restart if that is the case you should also have a code set that tells you what happened thats what it sounds like to me I may be completly wrong but thats my guess.

Thanks for the response. Fortunately, I didn't put the pedal to the medal(floorboard). I just pushed harder. Anyway, I went out and drove it again about an hour ago and it runs better now. Seems to be shifting a bit harder and hanging up a bit after it warms up BUT it does shift into 3rd now. At least I can explore some solutions!!! Thanks.

Same question I had. . My truck shifts normally now, it just sat for a couple of hours then started working again

I think this problem has been creeping up on me as I have noticed some sluggishness in the past but did not really think too much about it. This was the 1st time it did not shift. It has hesitated in the past and I just thought it was me and forgot about it.

What I need to do is upgrade the transmission but I do not really know which way to go. I want to keep the truck and am planning to put a Lance camper on it and maybe(eventually pull a 5th wheeler-9000 to 11000 lbs max). I will check around here to see about installation costs/exchange etc.

All I can say is I have been a happy and trouble free DTT Customer since they started and I know others are great sas well but Bill and Shanti take a personal care in their customers. Look at all the manufacturers and see who suits you best.

Give ATS a serious look as you make your choice.

I was really impressed with ATS and Clint Cannon; he is one automatic transmission expert. Clint’s ability is second to none when it comes to knowing how to get the power of a diesel to the rear wheels. ATS knows how to make the complete system hold using upgraded products including their Tripeloc torque converter. Some of the transmission builders out there buy the torque converters they use from someone else and resell them. ATS has the knowledge and experience to manufacture their own torque converters. I personally like a company who makes their own stuff. I spoke to most of the transmission builders out there and ATS has their stuff together, so I chose ATS to do my transmission. I have never regretted that choice. I found a fantastic transmission builder with Clint and the ATS team. In my opinion there is no other company that even comes close to the superior transmission that ATS makes. As you can tell I am a highly satisfied ATS customer. I have one rock solid transmission.

ktimmer,

As a new member of the "WolfPack" DTT..... I suggest you take a serious look at DTT transmission. Bill builds a great transmission & his team are great to work with. I only have about 2500 miles so far on my trans but it's been performing well from the day they installed it!

With the cost of these aftermarket transmissions, you only want to do it one time. Bill has installers all over the USA so finding one in your area shouldn't be much of a problem or if your up for a road trip he's in Abbotsford, BC... .

I really suggest you give the DTT a serious look, & do your homework!

Here's his website & toll free telephone number... . Best of luck!

No affiliation, Just a happy customer. :D

Which one lasts?

Ahh, a rebuilt transmission war. . . proofs in the puddin, which has the best warranty that can provide customers that will say they really stand behind it? The cost of these rebuilts dictates a warranty of 3 years/unlimited mileage.

Nope, no trans war

Sorry to disappoint ya but no war here! I got what I wanted & it's the DTT! Buy whatever you want to, it's your $4000...

After that high praise that EDWARD posted I just wanted to let others know that the DTT is awful popular in the NW & these boyz are pretty darn hard on their trannys.

I only tow between 6500#-7000# but I know my trans is setup to handle much more. The shifts are so firm & crisp it'll grab 2nd gear if I keep my foot in it with stock power.

As I said, it's your money spend it however you like.
