hey yall, I think my transmission is starting to hate me at 100,000miles now... One day I can slip it good, the next I'll be towing my loaded trailer and will spin the tires on a hard take off... It makes no sense. My main issue is going down the road, between 40 and 60mph, I'd just be cruising along and want/need to hammer down... . It feels like it gets confused on what gear it is in and it feels like it is slipping that gear. Almost like it wants to downshift and go, but gets stuck and doesnt know where to go. So what upgrades should I look at? when it is rebuild time. and what do you think my issue is currently?

What are yalls opinons?

Thanks for your time!

Rick

ya know im still running the stock trans in mine and it actually seams to hold fine exept for 3rd with the tc unlocked. it slips horribly trying to go into 3rd. im not a transmission man but i sure would like to know why its the only gear i slip in. just though i would let you know your not alone. Ill be calling dave as soon as congress aproves the money :-laf

Lets face it you are running on borrowed time. My Goerend Trans was the best upgrade i have done to date. If you really want to know what is going on with your stock trans call Dave. He will spend a ridiculous amount of time with you explaining your options. After about 30 minutes Dave actually tryed to talk me out of a new trans and was willing to send me some parts to try to fix my old one. I opted for the complete trans and his 3 disk converter. Hendricks, I can't believe you are still running on your stock trans. If you upgrade your trans your truck will be crazy fast. By the way no bang on ATS,DTT,Suncoast... ... But it is hard to beat Daves customer service. . my 2 cents... .

you and me both. its only a matter of time before i break it :-laf

it starts to slip a little more every day. On a side note i can tell you that my gov pressure solenoid is bad, just havent bothered to change it.

When was the last time it was serviced? Like fresh fluid and filter?

It could also be electrical noise. Clean the battery cables.

If it was mine I'd check the line pressure and increase it to 65-70 psi, while the pan was down.

I just bought the truck in Sept of 2006... Not sure when the fuild was changed. What is the procedure to bump the line pressure?

Thanks

Rick

Rick,

I know i put my 2 cents in earlier but it pains me to see you go through the transmission wows searching for a fix to a small problem, like i did, that is hiding the larger one. The main issue is the your Torque Converter and Transmission need to work together and they do a fairly good job at that when the truck is in stock form. As you add power they fight each other more and more and eventually bad things happen. That seams to be where you are at. If you really want to know what is wrong with your transmission now Call Dave 563) 778-2719. He is a great guy and will spell it out to you on the phone with no strings. He will let you know what needs to be done by him or someone else. more info here http://www.gbtransmissions.com/fromdave.htm. I was in the same boat as you with much the same intermittent problems. You can try, as many have, to boost line pressure, change out solenoids, lock switch for the torque converter but you will always be running on borrowed time until you get a Trans and Torque converter made to work together to handle the power. Good luck... .
