Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Transmission Problems

Current transmission status is: When in 1st gear, it appears to be in second gear. When in second gear, there is no shift from 1st to 2nd only 2nd gear. When in drive, it will not shift from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, only have 3rd. No tc lock up in third. No overdrive (4th) at all.



Any quick fixes to offer? Fuse I is good. transmission fluid level full.

I have a "99" 2500 Std cab with 4. 10 rear end. Performance mods are a K/N and Edge EZ.



It would not shift into OD after pulling a long step grade with a 3000lb load with OD locked out. I have about 20,000 miles with the Edge and no problems until now. No change after getting it home, unloading, checking all plug in connections, fuse I and fluid level.

Just thought I'd share what the solution to this problem was.



To make a long story short, it was the Overdrive/Converter solenoid (aka 3/4 shift solenoid).



I did more digging in the TDR vault, talked to a couple mechanics, and talked to Bill Kondolay. With Bill's short cut I was able to do the work myself by avoiding VB removal. :-laf
