transmission problems

Anyone else have this problem? Just started today, truck starts off in second gear while in drive, you can manually pull the shifter down into first and it will be fine and shift fine all through the range, but if you leave it in drive it will start in second unless you floor it then it will kick down into first. Fluid level is fine.

Mine will not downshift to 1st unless I come to a complete stop. Is yours starting out in second from a dead stop? All of the other trucks I have driven have acted the same way and most guys say theirs does it too unless they completely stop. No problem down shifting at a slow roll until today, before today you only had to give it part throttle and it would down shift easily into 1st, now unless you pull the shifter into low it will start out in second.

Local dealer has duplicated the problem but doesn't know how to fix the trans. I don't have a real good feeling about this,this is about the 5th time I've used my local dealers for repairs and have to battle with them to repair my trucks and this isn't even a warrenty issue,after 26 years of driving Dodge products it may be time for a change.

is the trans stock ? have them check pressures , line and govenor pressure .



stupid question , did they check pressures ? or just put on the scan tool ?

It does sound like a governor problem.
