My truck is a 04. 5 Auto 4X4. I have a TST pmcr, AFE intake, and straight exhaust.

My question is: Can I put a aftermarket torque converter and controller in it with out getting a fully built transmission. I wish i had the money to go all out, but I don't. I am tired of the stock TC, it is never where it needs to be and it is hating the TST. I don't pull any real big loads. I don't want to get a aftermarket TC and then break my transmission. Any input will be appreciated.

Also is anyone running a aftermarket TC wihtout a built transmission?

This question gets asked a lot.

It all depends on the condition of the trans-sooner is better.

Don't wait till it slips.

BTW, putting a controller on for what reason? Lock-up?

He will most likely say ok to a converter and Valvebody.

There are some variables.

Yes you can up to 425 hp 825tQ,the TC/VB commander will work fine The Dodge 47re/48re are iron clad once you get by these, Keep in mind that these are MAX # not MIN, this is safe for longevity and durability. Conditions and habits will effect these #s. Bomb away.
