I drive a 97 with an auto. It has 10500 miles and is stock. Occasionally, maybe once a month, the transmission will stall. This usually happens after it has been parked. I will drive it a short distance then it will act as if it is low on transmission fluid. After a few seconds it will be back to normal. The fluid level is full. Other than this the transmission is acting normal. Any ideas?

First. . Welcome to the TDR!!

Is that mileage right? 10500? or are you missing a 0?

Anyways, there is a check valve inline with the transmission coolers that could be stuck open and causing a drainback, allowing air to get into the system while the engine is off. Try idleing in neutral for 20-30 secs before moving to prime the fluid. Most rebuilders will mod the transmission to pump fluid in park to get around this.

good luck
