Recently, on a trip, my 1000 mile old Goerand 47rh blew a transmission fitting off at the cooler. This was due to a poor installation by a local trans shop (not the Goerends). The truck downshifted to 2nd gear, back up to 3rd, and down to second again in a period of around 1 minute at 80mph. I immediately pulled over to find ALOT of trans fluid dripping everywhere. The line had completely come loose from the cooler. There was still fluid showing on the dipstick, and nothing smelled burnt.

Now the question is: has the life of the trans been hurt by this? and has any major damage been done? The shift points feel different and it took me a year to save up for this trans and sucks to think it's ruined.

Hey Steve, just call Victor & I'm sure he'll pay for it with all his tree money! Thank God it's outage season, I've got quite a bill to pay myself.

I call Goerends and ask them. I would also have the trans checked out.

Having it down shift into second at that speed something mite of got messed up. You mite need to re-adjust bands. I can't think anything electronic messing up.

Your right Larry, tree money must be good because Vic refuses to even look for work. I'll try to get WSI to buy me a new trans if need be. Won't be nothing like your bill!

He's at Browns Ferry now with Wachs, I'm going to Lake Bluff on Monday to start working on my bill. Getting my truck back tomorrow. Good luck with your transmission, didn't mean to hi-jack your thread.

FYI, I talked to Dave Goerend and was given a list of possibilities and solutions. I'll try his recommendations. Totally unexpected was his offer to rebuild the transmission minus the cost of shipping. This issue has nothing to do with any of his workmanship. I wouldn't consider letting him do this but I can't remember dealing with a company this good ever. Goerend Transmissions has an excellent product and unheard of customer service.
