i am fixing to change the transmission fluid for the second time (has amsoil in it now) at 75,000 miles. first change was at about 25,000, and i have some questions.

1. whats a good fluid to put in it? (bet you saw that one coming, huh).

2. i know i should put in more than recommended, but exactly how much?

3. i want to pour it in thru the top as i have read here to do, but how do i go about taking the boot off w/out destroying it? just wedge a screw driver in there and lift around the edges?

4. when i get the boot off i assume there will be a "plate" to remove and then replace. does the plate have a gasket that will need to be replaced?

any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

1. Amsoil MTF

2. I put 5qts in mine with Fastcoolers. No need to overfill much.

3. No you don't. I asked a couple weeks ago and the answers I got made it out to be a lot more work than just pumping it thru the fill hole. Filling to the fill hole is "overfull" anyway.

4. Dunno. I didn't get that far and said the heck with it.

OK, I gave the G-56 and I get the recommended amount plus half quart by just using the Fill hole on the trans, I too use the AMSOIL. I have had NV5600's ( Still do) and use the MTF.

FWIW, I just had a new stereo deck put in my 06 and they had to remove the gear shift knob, and trans boot, and they had that sucker out in five minutes and put back in 5 minutes very easily. I couldn't watch the surgery!!:-laf
