Transmission Question

'95 2500 automatic torque converter clutch locks and unlocks frequently after the first 10 mintues of driving. After an hour it behaves properly. It seems to be related to speed but not to load. Any ideas?

That sounds like a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) problem to me. Try giving it a squirt of contact cleaner and working the trottle a bit. see if that has any affect.

Repeat problem

Sounds all to familiar from the board, I'm not sure how much you surf this site but there is a bunch of info on small things too. I've seen this gripe on here in the last week.

3 things come to mind:

TPS, Brake switch adjustment & trans temp sender.



Switch adjustment is easiest: push down on the pedal and pull the switch plunger out as far as it goes (it will ratchet). Let the pedal back up and it will self adjust.



Trans temp sender: check resistance hot and cold.



TPS: try the fix above. If not fixing it, remove and carefully disassemble and clean. Sometimes there will be a carbon build up on the contacts.
