I have the 47 re in my 97, and it's acting up. Had a hefty leak, and changed fluid, filter and put on a new pan gasket. Still leaked, so I then replaced the fill tube gasket, then it had a big delay when I put it in gear, and after a bit I replaced the drainback valve. good for a week, and then it came back. So I gutted the drainback valve, and waited for the converter to fill. All good for a week till tonight when while driving down the road it dropped out of 4th and 3rd, like I put it in neutral.
Still have 1st second and reverse. I have the shop manual, but I can't seem to track down the issue. Anyone have an idea before this goes to a shop? Thanks in advance!

I am surprised the auto trans gurus did not jump on this. I go back and check every thing you did. I was looking at the clutch/band chart but there was nothing to pin point it (thought you mite of burnt a clutch. the front clutch is for reverse, third and fourth but they seem to use other clutches also.
Have you tried adjusting front band?
I take it the trans is shifting 1st to 2nd or are you manually shifting?

If s put it in drive it goes as far as 2nd. When it happened, I was in od, seemd like I pushed in the clutch, so I hit the od button, still no power, dropped it into 2nd and she went. I turned it around and brought it home a couple miles. figuring I didn't want to damage anything further.
I tried a scanner, but am not having luck there. It says I have 30 codes Yay, and then shuts off. I updated it, it's charged one of those wtf things. The manual says it may be that the pcm response is too slow. It's an autolink al439.
