I am puting a NV4500 in my 96 and the book shows some sort of dust cover between the bellhousing and the motor. I was reading in the manual and it says nothing about installing one other than that on the NV3500's that they may be equiped with one. I'm not sure if the truck needs one or not since it was an automatic and I'm converting it to a manual. Has anyone who has ever removed their manual remeber seeing a dust cover? Is this dust cover even necessary. Thanks. Matt

i don't believe there is a Dust cover on a NV4500. Dust covers are usually for an automatic so you can hook up the torque converter. Manuals bellhousings usually usually cover everything.

The dust shield I'm refering to actual has the same bolt pattern as the bellhousing and fits between the bellhousing and motor. I think it might also be refered to as a dust shield. I think your talking about the inspection plate at the bottom of the automatic transmission.

well, my truck didn't have dust shield when i pulled my NV4500. I sometimes get those plates mixed up. I really doubt you would need one anyways.
