transmission rebuild

While the transmission is out I think I will have the it rebuilt. Anyone have suggestions on a rebuild kit? Also, I will probably replace the torque converter. So who has a good converter? The truck only has mild mods on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It will depend on what you want and how much you want to spend. You can find a local rebuilder, do it yourself, or buy a trans from one of the major vendors. The converter you can get from each of the major vendors or go to several others and get just the converter. You can have one custom built or get a standard off-the-shelf generic for a diesel.



Make a list of what you want the trans to do and where you are going with the truck and the known problems. Call each of the vendors and ask them how they will address the issues and give you a quality product.



If you want to do the work yourself you can buy the parts and pieces from many places and have a good unit.



I can help with the trouble points and what needs to be addressed, give you the benefit of my experiences, and a list of vendors but I won't recommend.
