Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Transmission rebuild

My friend is looking into rebuilding his trans and was looking at several different vendors. I was wondering what your experience was with the following vendors parts and how they worked for you. Sun Coast, BD, DTT, and Gorenends. I do not want a trans war just some facts on the pros and cons you have experienced. This is going in a 2001. 5 2500 4X4 QC auto. Thanks in advance.

Well, I cannot comment on the others, but my DTT has never had any issues. I keep adding power and it keeps acting like it did from day one.

I suggest you do a search and read just to make sure you get a good "mix" of replys. If at all possible drive trucks equipped with different equipment and realize that all the names you listed can build a great transmission. Each one will feel a litle different so you want to choose one that fits your driving "style". I would also keep in mind what happens if you have a problem. Will your installer stand behind his work, etc.

I have had a great expierience with Dave Goerends and would not change my decision for the world. Great transmission, shifts smooth and has a nice tight convertor. Makes a big difference over how the truck accelerates as well. Dave stands behind his work as well or better than anyone.

You may here this and that from guys on here, your job is to sort it all out and keep the "good" stuff.

Yep. A search would be the best thing to do. Those thread get, ah, um, shall I say, lively.



I have a Goerend transmission and triple disc TC. Been VERY happy with it.
