Sorry folks. Can't see going through all this and that and maybe this and maybe that. When you can shop around and find a shop to do it reasonable and with a guarantee. I like doing things myself but hittin the 70 mark and really ..... just getting harder to do.

Ready to go back in. One problem, the banks T. C. sticks out of the bell housing farther than the stock one, well we will see what happens.

Yesterday a friend helped me put it back in, the T. C. was not a problem, still had clearance from the flex plate. Do not try to put all 16 Qts of fluid in w/o starting the engine, it starts coming out of the T. C. seal and your heart starts beating faster. Everything seems to work good. I will let the builder drive it to see what he thinks.

I had that little problem with the converter too. I'm used to the late '70's and 80's trannys where the converter is inside the bell housing about a 1/2 inch. I about tore my hair out trying to get it to go in that last notch. Then I got out the faithful tape measure and figured it out. I never noticed when I pulled it out if it stuck out or not.

And the oil was most likely coming out of the vent, not the seal. ;)

Glad you got it all in, hope it works good.

On the face of the trans pump behind the torque converter. :-laf Kind of a lot of work for the small benefits to be had. That area is pretty well sealed from the elements unless you drive the truck underwater a lot. ;)

To remove the transmission crossmember, I tapped it with a rubber mallet upward to releave pressure from the angled frame. I then tapped it forward till it was in the straight section of the frame and out it came. Be sure to move the two small tubes that go from the transfer case to the front axle out of your way. When I put it back in, I did just the opposite but I put some white grease on the frame to make it slippery. I then cleaned of the grease residue off the frame when it was in place. Good luck, Herb
