The Getrag 5-speed in my "92 Ram 250 2-WD just died. Should I replace it with a rebuilt Getrag, or go to an NV4500?

Either way, I understand there's a wide range of quality in rebuilt transmissions, including some real stinkers. Who offers reliably rebuilt transmissions?

When my trannie goes, I'm just going to ditch the gutbag and go NV4500. It will be worth the price. Standard Trasmission gives a really good deal.

Since my Getrag is still going strong with 145K, and considering the cost of an NV4500 swap, I'd probably lean toward rebuilding mine when it dies. Some say the 4500 isn't all that much better than the Getrag, and the Getrag can do OK with proper care. Several members have had good luck with the Getrag, so maybe there are "good ones" and "bad ones". If money weren't an issue, a swap to the NV5600 would be a more definite upgrade in beef and you gain a gear. :) Just my opinions.
