Truck Died! Any Thoughts?

CVR222NV What do you mean keep an eye on those injectors? Are they prone to go out before 200,000?

Others have answered your question. I added extra filtration at 130,000 and had an injector go out at 207,000 which burned up a piston. I wish I would have changed them out if I had to do it over again.

Best transmission filter for a 48RE is the regular open element type like this: https://www.genosgarage.com/product/mop-3515996/transmission-filters

The "newer" enclosed type has less flow and looks like this: https://www.genosgarage.com/product/mop-52118789/transmission-filters

You don't really need a double deep sump pan on a 48RE. Its not shallow like the older 47RH or 47RE, the stock pan is fairly deep as is. The main reason to get one is the drain plug! The added strength, maybe the heat reduction helps and some like the temp probe provision too. I have a BD pan on my 48RE. My 47RH has the double deep Mag Hytec. I like the drain plug better on the BD brand. I see no difference in running temps with the double deep pan over the regular BD pan. Both run the same temp pulling the same trailers, two different trucks though.

I wouldn't go with the old Filter element on the new transmission with the factory deep pan. That new filter is there for a reason, to suck the oil closer from the bottom of the pan and therefor cooler.
And also I've never heard from any problems, like oil starvation, with the newer filter. It flows plenty for what the transmission needs.

Like we see exactly here in this thread, never changed for 150K Miles and still enough flow for it. :D

If by chance you reduce flow on either filter the transmission is toast anyway. They are a 40 um filter, plugging them has only one conclusion, rebuild time. Either one is fine as far as I have found.

Exchange the fluid at 20k for severe duty, 30k for normal towing usage, once per year for DD and low mileage of former usage scenarios. A fluid exchange will do more good than any additional filter.
