I have an 04 48RE and just went over 40K miles. At 33K miles, I had the dealer service the transmission.
Now, let's see if I can explain the issue. This has started happening within the last 1000 miles, maybe. When I come to a complete stop(stoplight, stopsign. etc), I let off the brake and push on the throttle, the truck accelerates, shifts to 2nd, then almost immediately shifts back down to 1st rpm's come up but no go(almost like freewind), when this happens I let off the pedal the rpm comes down and it shifts back to 2nd then to 3rd and 4th fine. This scenario only happens as I described, there are no problems shifting from 2-3, 3-4th. There is no other freewind at any other rpm or gear.
So, I tried a few things, first I came to a stop, dropped the shifter to 1st, pushed the pedal all the way to 3K rpm just fine, no freewind, just great power. Next, I came to a stop shifted to 2nd, pushed the pedal, the truck accelerated fine in first, shifted to 2nd, then almost immediately shifted back to 1st and then the freewind.
Any ideas?
I'm thinking there is something in the computer. The transmission has never made an odd noise and the atf level is normal.
Anyone experience a similar problem? Is it just a matter of having the dealer reflash the computer?
Thanks for any help you can give,
Mike
