Thought I would share my adventure for the benefit of the group. I've certainly had lots of help from TDR!!!
Bought my truck the day after Christmas in 2004. No problems, only had 34,000, runs good- excellent mileage. Hand checkecd at EACH fill-up, never less than 20. 5 mpg. So far just drive to and from work and now have 44k.
About 6 weeks ago I noticed a shudder in the truck when I stopped at the light and when I first take off and in stop-n-go traffic. Thought maybe the brakes were sticking. But when I put it in neutral the shudder went away. Then my A/C started blowing hot if I set through a long light. So... off to the dealership I go??? Found out about a recall on transmission cooling lines so they took care of that. They could not find the problem on the shudder or A/C. So I took the mechanic for a short ride. Sure enough after getting on the freeway and coming into the lot the A/C went hot. He checked and discovered the electric fan was not working. Then I shut the truck off and waited for a minute, started it back up... pulled forward and the shudder started. We pulled into the shop and read the trans temp and it was super hot!
So, they replaced the cooling fan and found the wires were not hooked up to the old one, so... no charge for deductible!
Pick up the truck in the morning and everything should be in good order now! I was really worried that I was going to start having problems but seems like a minor glitch, and at no cost!
If the problem is not fixed after I pick up tomorrow I'll keep posting but seems like the cooling fan was the culprit for both problems.
Thanks Guys!
