I am starting to feel a shudder going in to OD. I currently have 73,000 on the truck. Any advice? How long to D day? :--)

I just changed the fluid / filter two weeks ago. It looked good inside no metal. Adjusted the bands they were not to far out of spec.

Torque Converter?

I'm not a technician, but...

My truck has 145k miles and I burned the torque converter this past summer using the infamous "mystery switch" from a dead stop at 21k pounds - dumb me. Immediately the TC Clutch was dammaged and it now shudders quite noticable under moderate to heavy throttle while accellerating and shifting from 3rd to 4th.

Because of the miles on my truck I'm looking at a new transmission rather than just a new TC - rebuild from DTT that I plan to order this next week.

Hope the oil change works, but if it doesn't you might be looking at a new Torque Converter. ???

When you changed your fluid, did you use +3? If not, that could be part of your problem. You can also turn your line pressure up about 10psi, that will help for a while.

Could you give me some advice I am not shore witch screw to turn and how many rotations. How much is to far, how much is far enough? I have on order Governor springs, AFC spring, and #4plate. Knowing my luck the transmission will be kicking the can soon. Who can I order a transmission from that will deliver it and let me keep my old one until I get it out? Yes it was +3 fluid.

Thank you all for the info so far!

Gummel,

Do a search on a topic named "How to Adjust transmission line pressure". I think the topic was started about 01/05/01. It even has a picture showing which screw to adjust. If you can't find it I think I printed it out, so I may be able to get you a copy.

I was unable to vew the pic for that post (How to Adjust transmission line pressure) for some reason. If I more info or a pic of where the screw is that would be great.

I am wondering what I should do? Also what causes this, is it the valve body, TC? Should I just drive it till it gets bad and do a complete up grade. Currently it is only doing this just after it shifts into OD It seem to me that there is a little lag from shift to shudder. I am eagerly awaiting my governor springs, AFC spring and #4 plate so I am sure that it will only get worse after the up grades. Thank you for all the advice so far!!!
