My transmission has only done this 3 or 4 times, but it has me worried. If I deccellerate and then accellerate again (i. e. coming off the freeway, or slowing in traffic) it shudders, almost like a clutch chatter. I have it in overdrive when this happens. Today when it did it, it seemed like it had not down-shifted and should have and thats when it shuddered. The only things done to the truck since this started are the 275's and a switch to mobil one transmission fluid.
 
My previous truck did that with Mobil 1 trans fluid. Get it out of there!!

In my opinion, the synthetic trans fluids are too slick for the clutches if things like age, pressure and power are at the limits.



I like synthetics but not in some transmissions.

The Mobile1 is probably it.



Try this first to save your investment, and the otherwise superior qualities of a synthetic trans fluid. Get a bottle of red Lube-guard friction modifier. This has worked for a lot of people. Try half a bottle first. You only need enough additive to stop the shudder



I am running the new Amsoil ATF universal fluid. It has been running fine for months now. It is ATF4 rated by amsoil

Thanks, I'll try the Lube-guard before I ditch the fluid. Had the conversion done at a shop, so hopefully they will redo it if it becomes necessary. BTW Robert, how do you like your superchips?

Frankly if I had to do it over, I would save about $40 and get the Transgo 518/TFOD Jr. kit.



The tfod jr covers the important issues. The major I did not use the newer pump seals and the large springs since I was not overhauling the trans. So, basically i only used the Jr. parts.
 
The synthetic fluids are garbage in these trannies, My buddy lost a brand new warrantied transmission w/ just an EZ and not to many miles because the trans couldnt produce the appropriate friction to transfer the power, I wont run anything but factory recommended.
