I have mine in the pan. Personally I don't think it's all that critical which location might be the most accurate. Once you learn what "normal" temperatures are for your particular transmission / gauge setup, you'll simply be watching for temperature trends after that. If you see something abnormal, it's time to stop and investigate.next project is a temp gauge. Not sure which is better for placement of the sending unit, in the line or the pan.
