I am converting to a NV4500 in my 89'. I need the part # for the splined coupler that joins the transmission output shaft and the transfer case input shaft. I need the # for the Getrag/NP205 combo coupler.

splined coupler/adapter

Smoker, do you have the old one that went between the Getrag 360 and the NP205? On my rig the old coupler matched the NV5600 output spline count and diameter perfectly, but it was too long. I am simply going to have it cut down to the proper length.

Was the NV4500 ever mated to the NP205 xfer? I thought it was only used with the Getrag 360 and the 4500bolted up to an NP241.

I will try to look tomorrow and get you the correct D-C part number.

My truck had the three speed auto and the transfer case input shaft for the auto is smaller than the input shaft for the 5 speed transfer case. I am going to have to cut the auto and 5 speed couplers in half and weld them together so that I can run the 5speed NV4500 with the auto transfer case's small input shaft. Other than that, everything else bolts up. By the way, how did you run your transfer case linkage?

transmission/xfer spline

Sorry, the parts book pages I have are for the NV5600 transmission to NP241 transfer case. I do not have the Getrag 360/NP205 page. Thought I did, but I was wrong.

I am going to use my original xfer case shift lever assy. I am making a bracket to attach to the right side of the NV5600 so the xfer shift lever will use the original hole in the floor. Once I get it mounted, I can measure how much the actuator rod must be lengthened. I am considering cutting and threading the original rod and using a turnbuckle center to add the length. That way it would be adjustable. I'm taking pictures as I go. I'm going to write up the whole experience and make it available when I am finished.
