Ah having a fun one.

Wife called while I was out of town said the truck was going all the way to red line before shifting. Well I said park it and I will check it out when I get home. Checked fluids all was good (Amsoil and double deep Mag-Hytec pan). Drove truck around for the last week no problems yesterday it finally hung in gear on me and as I let off throttle the pedal went down and kept accelerating, Oh &&%%! I was going for the shut down when the pedal came back up. It felt just like the cruise control does when it gives it gas and you have your foot on the pedal where the pedal just disappears under you foot (make sense?). Called the wife she said yeah it did that to her too she forgot to mention that, Honey uncontrolled/unrequested acceleration would have been an automatic trip to the dealer. Anyway this has me really worried now as I got to thinking there is no direct control of the throttle it is all electronic. Has this ever been an issue? I know my 92 had a recall for a piece breaking off in the fuel pump that would result in full throttle sticking open. But has there been an issue with the ECM that now control fuel delivery ever having a mind of their own like this?

It sounds like the TPS spring to me... rare but they have broken or get

binded up causing the WOT and erratic shifting. BTW my dads TPS is goin

out on his 2001. 5 T/C not locking up... :{
