Archived transmission sudden quit

i was driving at 60 on the freeway when the transmission suddenly lost drive. . any thoughts on what may have gone wrong. .



symptoms no forward or reverse

as if it shifted into neutral



drive shaft doesnt rotate when i put it into gear



no noises



just a sudden shift to neutral



90,000 miles

1997 diesel automatic



running amsoil synthetic

fluid still clean . . no smell

Have you checked your shift linkage to make sure that it is intact and working correctly?

Does the transmission fluid look brown/black and smell like an electrical fire?

I had a similiar issue. On my truck it was the Input shaft that broke. I was cruising at 70mph and it just broke free. Any fluid leaks?
