My '92 needs a new transmission. I found a Quad 4X4 NV4500 kit. Turns out it was for a 89-91 and did not have the transfer case shifter bracket modification plates for the 92-93's with it. :eek:They are different. I called Quad 4 and they are looking, but the information may not be available. They have not made the kits since around 2005 and the computer that has that info has died. I am looking for someone that has done this change out and would have the instructions for the transfer case changer shifter and maybe the details of the plates that are welded onto the existing assembly. Also the details of the linkage arm length and bend. Maybe a parts truck with this modification where the changer could be parted.

You may want to modify your NP205 to a twin stick shifter and then you have that and no need to worry about the quad conversion transfercase shifter bracket. Twin stick on the NP205 allows you to control front and rear axles indepenant of each other etc. . also allows rwd low . . which is nice for backing a heavy trailer, especially on a manual trans. . I plan on doing that and adding a np203 front range box in front of the np205 so you have the option for a double reduction for low range. This is called a "Doubler" . Any how twin sticks look cool sticking out of the floor . . with the NP203 range box it would be triple shifters. . pretty neat. . and how here are some links for this

NP205 Twin Stick Shift Rail Kit

they make modified shift rails you just just swap out out of new steel. . no rust and no seal pitting /grooves...

JB Custom Fabrication: Twin-stick shifters

they majke a low price VERY high quality all stainless twin shifter kit. .

great links except the northwest fab one ..... i had a super horrible experience with ordering from them, long story short they had my money for 3-4mts and i had no parts and they would not talk to me ..... the only way i got them was to bad mouth them on pirate till they responded

will the gm rails work with the dodge case without any modifications

yes the rails are the same. . the input and outputs and the side it drops are the differences with the ford, chevy or dodge versions. . the chevy drops on the same side as the 1st gen dodge does. . but has differnet input and output splines... as fo northwest fab . . I havn't dealt with them yet, but I heard alot of good about them. . mainly from pirate board guys. . your the first negative. . I'll have to read the section of the forum for bad sellers and buyer etc... I will research some more before I spend my $ . . if I even get around to doing the swap. . maybe with my tax return haha

Thanks

yeah thats another one of my big things i dont like about pirate ... ... if the vendor ******* enough to the guys that run pirate the negative feedback goes away ..... there was a like 8 page topic on northwest fab ... ... . and its gone now

Just modify the existing shifter frame?

I just want to modify the existing transfer case shifter to fit on the side of the NV4500.

well the stock getrag mounts aon the adapter between the trans and transfercase. . i guess see what bolt holes are available on the side of a 5600?. . and keep your shifters attached to the transfercase shift rails. . then fab up some plates / brackets to weld to your stock brackets and the holes in the side of a5600 if there are anyy. . worst case you make a bracket off of the pto bolt holes... not too bad. . Thats why i mentioned the twin stick for same amount of work why not gain independant control and 2wd low... ??

Thanks,

Deo
