Alright guys, point me in the right direction!

My '00 has a BD brake, autoloc and pressureloc installed for my downhill towing pleasure in Kalifornia (my buddy Arnie).

Yesterday I have no engine braking which i usually drive with. All the BD components seem to function OK - the butterfly valve closes when I let off the go peddle, but no "braking" action.

Upon testing, I DO have a TCC ground signal from the autoloc to the transmission at about 30 MPH (with BD system OFF).

I am "asuming" that I may have a bad lock-up solenoid (or may worse). I like to know as much as possible before handing it off to the Dodge-Boys - it more than levels the playing field.

Now to the $64,000 question - where the HEck is the TCC lock-up solenoid physically (exactly) located??? I enjoy having the shop manual for my truck, but it's not always the most informative! The poor diagram they do have seems to indicate that it and the O/D solenoid are doubled-up on the same sub-unit. Thanks DC !!!

Any sharp transmission guys out there?

THANX!

tcc/od solenoids

The solenoids are mounted on the valvebody in the pan. It usually requires removal of valve body to replace as solenoid through case connector is held in place by a screw on top of the valve body. HTH

the rest of the story....

Made above post early in morning before both my brain cells had awaken. On a '00 model you CAN change just the solenoids without pulling the valvebody or the harness. You just remove the pan, governor solenoid body(four 7/16 head bolts and two 25 torx) and then three 25 torx screws holding the solenoids on. cut the zip ties and CAREFULLY with a small flat blade screwdriver or a small pick, release the harness plug lock from the solenoid assy. and remove, Install replacement, zip ties (not too tight), reinstall the solenoids and torque screws to 48 in lb. (center, then outside) Reinstall governor body, torque 7/16" head bolts to 102 in lb and two torx to 48 in lb. If you need, the OE part number is 52118500AB or you can call DTT @ 1-866-504-4002 and get a solenoid set that has been tested for less $$ than you will pay at dealer. Hope this helps. Sorry for the brain cramp.
