Transmission Temp. gauge location?

Was out plowing a few days ago and I noticed the trans. temp. flashed for a second and went off. I run the mag deep pan trans. oil pan in all of my automatics with the probe in the pan. The entire time I was plowing the temp. never went over 180 degree's (according to my gauge). I was wondering where the gauge that monitors the truck transmission is installed and why the trans. temp flashed on then off?Thanks, Frank

On the VB, it is part of the same unit that does the gov pressure. It is a total POS and will do that if it starts going bad. Also might want to check the trans control harness plug for fluid contamination. When they start leaking into the plug you get intermittent trans lights and other weird problems.

cerberusiam, I don't know if you recall, but I had started a tread about a month ago stating that my indicator would not properly shift into Park and would flash. The next day when I would go to start the truck and it would not start (would have to put into neutral). Also, the truck would not shift into fourth gear without letting up on the gas. Brought the truck into a local Transmission shop (they've done work for me in the past), the replaced the following: Governor switch,neutral safety switch,pressure transducer, changed oil and filter. On the invoice it stated that oil was leaking from neutral safety switch and also leaking between transmission and transfer case. I put about 300 miles on the truck since being serviced and it has been shifting great and the indicator is working as it should. Just got a text from a property manager at one of the sites we plow, they are requiring service (plowing). My kind of storm (maybe 2"!!!), easy on the equipment! Got to go, I'll keep my eyes on the gauges!

Those transducers have been known to be bad out of the box. The intemrittent flicker of the trans temp light has frequently led back to the trans control harness connection leaking trans fluid into the connector. Other things can cause it but that is a fairly common one.

No issues last night with the trans. temp. light flashing. However, nearly got ran over by my own truck!!!!! Started "my truck" third in my sig, and plowed snow away from my house and down to my Pole barn (about 50 yards from my house). Stopped the truck and got out and opened the two pole barn doors (keypad), walked over to one of my trucks parked in the pole barn to start and warm it up for my guys, as soon as I opened the truck door, I noticed the truck I left running outside was going in reverse and headed back up to my house !!!! I quickly ran out of the pole barn and caught up to the truck, opened the door grabbed the steering wheel and tried reaching for the brake pedal (as I WAS BEING DRAGGED ON THE SNOW AND ICE!!!!), I finally was able to grab the grab handle and pull myself into the cab and stop the truck within four to five feet of running into my garage doors of my house!!! What an experience, you can't make things up like this !!! Thank God none of my kids where outside or anyone else for that matter! I know years ago there was a recall for this exact issue, as a matter a fact my other automatic truck will beep and lights flash if you attempt to back the truck up with the drivers door being opened.Will definitely "mention" this issue to the dealer when I bring this truck in for the N62 safety recall. Boy what a night!!! If anyone recalls the recall # for this issue I would greatly appreciate the information. Thanks again, Frank.
