Engine rattle at idle. Wierd power surge at 2k rpm

No Start

I have the same heat build up in traffic, top temp is about 210 internal temp on the Edge and 180 pan temp, in stop and go traffic or in the drive through, always go to neutral. loaded or empty once the torque converter locks internal temps stay at 180 degrees. I removed the heat exchanger and added BD double stacked 5/8 cooler with fan under the bed, works great, temp sensitive fan runs when it needs to. almost forgot also took out the check valve in the transmission cooling line too, super restrictive.

If the check valve is plugged with debris, then removing it works just fine. You might see your converter drain back in a shorter period of time, but that's not the end of the world. But if your check valve is not plugged, I would not lose any sleep over leaving it in there. The passages in the valve body where the converter charge/cooler circuit originates are MUCH smaller than the check valve.
