As you all can tell, I am in the middle of putting in all of my gauges and now I would like to know a good place to put my transmission temperature probe. I looked at 91 1/2's truck and he has 2 probes, one in the return line and the other in the output line, neat set-up as he can switch between the two. I am looking for any other suggestions so I can get the big picture. Thanks

I put a spin on hydraulic filter on mine, spliced into rubber line going to the hot side of the oil cooler. I get 150 deg. readings there. I only got 130 deg readings when I had it in the test port on the right side of the trans just above the lip of the pan. I also put a short probe in the 1/8" port on top of the engine oil filter housing, and run both into an "on-on" switch, & toggle to whatever one I want to look at. Westach has rotary switches available, that will toggle to as many readings as you want using one gauge!... ... . DDG

I welded a bushing into the pan for the sender while I had it down for service. It stays pretty cool while underway, gets to 130 or so in heavy traffic, but havent towed yet. Also serves as a drain for the transmission.
