2000 Fuel Pressure Gauge Questions

How hard is it to hook up a transmission temp gauge on a 99 CTD? And where at do you hook it up? And is it necessary if your not planning on doing any towing, just putting some stuff in the back every now and then. . I will be driving about 50 miles a day to & from work and up & down hills?

If you plan to just use it as a daily driver, like a car  it really would not be necessary. However, from what I know and have seen on TDR a transmission temp and fuel pressure gauge is a must. I did drive 72k with only a transmission temp. When the DTT upgrade was done a bunch of SPAs were installed. As a side note, I have a SPA engine oil pressure gauge and the looooong time for the factory gauge to come up is baloney. There is full pressure (85+) on the SPA before the factory gauge even begins to come up. So maybe there REALLY isn't that much of a problem. Also the factory gauge is a 60lb IDIOT. It reads 60psi in the middle of summer at idle. On the SPA is 28psi. jm 2c

Is there anywhere else to put it on the transmission on the 99's... If not where can you purchase a test post?? Because later on I'm going to be adding more power with and edge and i figure that it wouldn't hurt to go with it now...

Why not just buy a double deep pan (which would not hurt) they have a threaded hole for transmission sensor. Ofcourse it is plugged :D Most say the outline for true temp of fluid. About 30* difference. For normal operation I feel it is fine; and so does my transmission man. :)

thanks for all the replys guys... I was talking to the guy where I'm buying my truck & I asked him about where he mounts the transmission temp sender is a plug on the top of the transmission next to the dipstick... Did anyone else ever hear of this?? He said thats where he always puts the senders for the tst kits... .

If he puts it on the dipstick it will read the same as if it were in the pan. Its a good place to measure how well your coolers are working but now how hard your transmission is working. If he's talking about the front test port on the passengers side, it only has fluid in it in 3rd and overdrive, again not a very accurate place to put the probe.

Order the transmission line from Dodge for a 95 dodge part number 5011244AA put the probe in it and be done with it.

I've got a Mass Diesel transmission temp line laying in the back of my truck. Its for an 03, don't know if it will work, but it might. I'll let it go for $70, and I'll pay shipping. Shoot me a pm if you are interested. Might want to call Mass Diesel to se if it will work. I gave about $90 bucks for it.
