The other day I was coming home from work and had a pretty good scare. Normally I don't watch my transmission temp unless I'm pulling the trailer or driving stop and go in town.
Here I'm driving along at 65mph unloaded and bucking a little headwind. I was thinking of how I was going to mount my new guage panel when I had it done. I glanced down at the transmission temp guage... AAAGH, 250 degrees
I instantly let up on the throttle and coasted to a field entrance(we have a lot of those around here). I let her idle a little but the temp wouldn't come down. I checked the fluid level and felt the external cooler, everything seemed fine.
I was at my wits end. I really want a Bill K. transmission, just not yet! I started checking the wiring for the guage and found a poor ground. Sure enough, the temp dropped right back to 125 degrees. Just thought I would share in case someone else gets a good scare like I did.
