The other day I was coming home from work and had a pretty good scare. Normally I don't watch my transmission temp unless I'm pulling the trailer or driving stop and go in town.

Here I'm driving along at 65mph unloaded and bucking a little headwind. I was thinking of how I was going to mount my new guage panel when I had it done. I glanced down at the transmission temp guage... AAAGH, 250 degrees:eek:

I instantly let up on the throttle and coasted to a field entrance(we have a lot of those around here). I let her idle a little but the temp wouldn't come down. I checked the fluid level and felt the external cooler, everything seemed fine.

I was at my wits end. I really want a Bill K. transmission, just not yet! I started checking the wiring for the guage and found a poor ground. Sure enough, the temp dropped right back to 125 degrees. Just thought I would share in case someone else gets a good scare like I did. :D

I've had that happen to me too.

Back in February, I was traveling to Dallas pulling a little 5th wheel. I was already having transmission trouble so I was running with my convertor unlocked when I could. I glanced at my gauge and she was pegged. We're talking 320° +. I pulled over and checked my fluid level and even added a quart. Turns out it was just a bad ground.

That sure does cause a sick feeling in your stomach.
