Searched the threads on the subject and still couldn't make hide nor hair of the sending unit install location. Has anyone placed the sender inline and have a description of the fittings used? I was also wondering which of the lines to use and if they needed to be cut and a 'T' spliced in or if the 'T' was installed in the transmission via a pipe nipple?
Are ferrals used?

Thanks, Steve.

I bought a Dodge transmission cooler line with both the check valve and the temp sensor fitting. On my ninety nine QC, it,s the line which crosses under the transmission and then goes forward to the cooler. Your dealer should have it, if they don't, email me and I'll give you the part number.

i don't remember the fittings used but do a search on transmission temp gauge install, they are in there. also do a search in ronsram1999, bill K had some very good advice about not to use the replacement line. I installed mine with the fittings and cut my line by the heat exchanger with a small pipe cutter, you will get a slow stream of fluid after you cut the line and if you don't mind getting oil down your arm you can install fittings and only loose about 1 to 2 quarts of fluid or you can wait a few hours and let all the fluid drain down which will cost you more in oil but not as messy. If you have problems on your search and cannot find the fittings let me know and i will try to find them. Regard, Ron

p. s. the line is the front line out of the transmission that goes to the heat exchanger. I see by your signature your truck is a 12v, if you do not have a heat exchanger than you can get the replacememnt line with the nipple already in the line for the sending unit.

Heatseeker,
Go to the 12 valve posts and look for a post by Ted Jannetty to me about this subject. I think you'll find what you're looking for there.
Go to the 12 valve posts pull up Show all topics, go to page 10,there will be a post from Katdiesel pointing to a thread "transmission Temp Sensor Location". I'm sure you'll find the info you want there!!

Guys,

Thanks for your input. I'll try the cheaper route with the brass fittings and T, then go to the dodge factory line if I have a leaky mess all the time. I might just hold off for a thousand miles until I do the transmission service and get into it all at once.

Bob, thanks for steering me in the right direction. I found the post. #ad
