Mine has gone bye bye. When repacing do I need teflon or any sealer on the threads? It's an NPT thread in the output line of the transmission.

azpete, in my 96 service manual there is nothing listed for removal or installation for of the trans fluid temp sensor.

On removal if you see any evidence of white teflon tape or another sealer on threads I would apply to new sensor.

If the sensor has two wires then it does not need to connect to ground through the fitting. The tape is ok.

What do you think will happen if teflon tape gets in the transmission??? I think the real transmission guys will tell you not to put anything on the threads. SNOKING

Threads that go in the case like pressure test points you have to be very careful with. On those I put a little dab of antiseeze. That works. On cooler lines you don't need to be so careful because it all has to go through the filter to get to the machinery.

Thanks for all the replys. When I take the old one out I will check if any sealer was used. Has been so many years since I put it in that I can not remember if anything was used. Will try with no sealer first and hope it will not leak.
