Just got my transmission temp sensor adapter from Janetty Racing. Basically a block with pipe threads on three sides. Two of the sides have brass compression fittings to fit the transmission coolant line. I am thinking that due to engine vibration and thermal expansion and contraction that compression fittings are not going to provide a leak proof fitting for very long if at all.

Can you braze the trany line into the fittings? Would make a much better connection.

The block is aluminum and seems to be well machined.

I think I have also read on the list that DC has a transmission line with a npt outlet manufactured right into it. Would it work for a 2002 3500? Might be the better alternative.

Thanks for the advice, absolutely love this forum!

The item you need from DC is part #5011244AA, oil cooler tube. I installed it, and with the thermocouple port right in the line, it worked nice. The only thing you need to do is remove check ball on the end that goes to the cooler on the side of the block. I used a bench grinder on the end and the check ball and spring came right out. Remember to clean out the line with parts cleaner when finished to remove any stray filings. By the way, cost is less than $75, retail is almost $100.
