I just put my transmission temp gauge in and I'm seeing my transmission temps during normal driving. I went with the cooler line with the sender unit already in it. On the highway the temps don't get high at all. In fact, it barely registers but in town, they climb to about 130 average. The highest I've seen is 140. Is this too high for an empty truck around town?

that is accually low, i have seen over 200* cruiseing i normally see 120-150 depending on outside temp and amount of traffic

I am experiencing nearly identical numbers. Same setup here, using the new cooler line. Yesterday on the interstate with outside temp at 21F, gauge did not even register; the pointer just sat on the peg at 100 degrees. Once I exited and started stop and go driving I was 130-140F. A few days ago driving in stop and go traffic with outside temp at about 45F, gauge was showing 130-180F. Apparently these transmissions run very cool at highway cruising speeds.

Sounds like thats normal operating temps. I expect that fluid temps will be higher in town since more shifting happens and less air moving through the cooler. Since I've never given much thought to transmission temps, I wasn't quite sure what was normal. Thanks for the inputs.

In city driving, your T/C is never locked up so is essentially slipping all the time. That causes some heat. On the road at over 45 or so, T/C is locked up and makes little heat.

My older truck temp gauge was 140* and up and rarely ever left the peg. The new truck runs a little hotter, possibly because it has a higher temp thermostat.

I see 160-180 in town according to my Edge Attitude monitor. Not sure how accurate the temp on the Edge monitor is as compared to a regular temp gauge. Any input on the accuracy of the Attitude monitor as compared to a regular gauge?
