Hi, All. I did a couple of searches but didn't find anything that answered my problem. I have an '06 2500 with an automatic and double deep pan. I changed the fluid the other day and now my transmission temps are the same as my coolant temps; they used to run about 30* cooler. I used synthetic ATF+4. I was concerned that I had left the filter loose or it was a damaged filter so I drained everything and started over. Same thing. High transmission temps. Anybody run into this before?

Thanks,

Dave

Are you reading from the OEM sensor on the valve body or cooler line. Does your converter still lock up hard? If your sure the sensor is reading correctly either the cooler is partially plugged or the converter is not locking/coming apart.

I have a DD pan and a cooler line sensor which runs around 120 non-towing or no heavy shifting. Only time it reaches what the truck gauge reads for coolant temperature is under heavy load and then intermittently cools down to 120 or so.

Check your sensor for calibration with a thermometer and hot water out of the transmission but still on the gauge.

I just returned from a 2000 mile trip running empty, with the "Amsoil" ATF+4 installed in my 68RE with ATS deep pan. I never seen more than 163 F. on my gauge, which by the way, is a standard thing on the 2010 trucks.

I'm running an Edge Juice w/Attitude using the factory sensor. The converter is locking up solid. Nothing was changed except draining the pan and installing new fluid... twice. I wasn't pulling anything, just driving to work on the highway. I can't figure it out.

Thanks for any ideas

My '06 with a DD pan never read higher than 150* with the stock Mopar transmission fluid during highway driving. I changed to Amsoil a couple years ago and it ranged between 150-200*. My dads '99 did the same thing.

Drain back valve problem? It was a issue in 2g dodges. I drilled mine out to increase the flow, only issue I have is first drive of the day has a delay going into gear, only 5 seconds.
