transmission Temps

Ok fellas,
Kevin Arts is having problems with high temps in his transmission. He's had Bill K's valve body and torque converter put in. The temps are being taken at the line between the heat exchanger,and the transmission. He has seen temps as high as 250,in stop and go traffic,and cruises around at about 180 or so. I'm posting for him, because he just moved in to his new house,and has no phone yet. If anyone has any ideas,I'll gladly relay them to him.

My first suggestion would be call Bill K.

I have my probe in the mag-hytech pan and I get temps just off the 140 to 150 mark add 50 deg because off the probe in the pan and I'm at 180 to 190 cruiseing and thats as high as it's gotten so far. We shall see what happens this summer.

Ok guys here's my issue. Normally around town I cruise at about 180 degrees. But in stop and go traffic I normally see 210. Though one day traffic really sucked and I saw 280 just idleing. Once I jump on my go pedal it goes back down to 180. I am running Amsoil Universal ATF.

For some reason it just seems like my fluid is not circulating. Could it be that the check valve in my line is bad?? Any suggestions?

I'm not so sure that it is unsual for higher transmission temps in heavy stop and go driving. Not too long ago I was unhooking my truck from the trailer and set the parking brake like I always do. After unhooking the trailer and putting away the tie-down straps I got back into the truck only to see that the truck was STILL in gear and the transmission temps had climbed to about 250* in less than 5 minutes!!! #ad


Not exactly the same as stop and go driving, but sitting in traffic for extended periods of time while still in gear would have a similar effect - especially with a high effecincy TC that is trying to get that truck to move even more so than the stock TC - thus possibly creating additional heat.

Just a guess (IOW - what the he!! do I know?) #ad

Guys. . Bill K called me and gave me some tests to perform. I'll post up the results so that we all know how our trannys should work.

I've gotta say it again... Bill K is the man!!!
